David John was born in Liverpool, England and trained at the Liverpool College of Art. Settling in Arrowtown, New Zealand in 1979, he established his reputation with the ‘Changing Room’ series of prints featuring the sports of rugby, cricket, soccer and netball. A realist painter David prefers to paint with oils and thin glazes on stretched canvas working from detailed pencil drawings. David John’s paintings hang in public galleries and private collections worldwide.
